Long Time (I mean since the 1940s and 50s) silent film fan here, I remember seeing old time movie "traveling showman" performances in the various towns where I spent the first two or three decades of my life. Then with the advent of television, silents had a new rebirth as they filled timeslots when there was little programming to fill the airwaves! Big time Chaplin, Keaton, and Sweedie fan. Also a big time fan of the "olde time" cartoons like Farmer Gray.
